The Team

Alex Meenhorst

When fresh-faced Alex joined adzup in 2013, coming from a past life of professional sport, he never expected to find his home away from home.  Starting out as the Agency Account Manager, Alex’s competitive spirit found new passion in adzup’s sales, business strategy and systems. After receiving a few written warnings and giving coach Nigel more than a few grey hairs, Alex graduated to General Manager and is now at the top of his game as our Director. He’s often found in the office keeping the beats pumping and the morale high, all while deftly wielding a table tennis paddle.  Drop by for a game some time.

Jo Lock

Jo was warmly welcomed into the adzup family in 2017 as our Agency Account Manager after taking a (long) break from the workforce to have a family. Jo has over 23 years experience in the advertising industry, starting in sales then moving to the agency side, working her way up to adzup Account Director and looking after clients such as Telecom (now Spark) Panasonic, Glengarry Hancocks and Barkers Mens Clothing.  Jo loves looking for the next “big” sale and enjoys using her creative and strategic skills to align clients with our media.  She’s also a registered yoga teacher and never says no to a glass of champagne.  Jo encourages you to drink and downward dog responsibly.

Rhys Protheroe

Rhys joined adzup in 2004 (not a typo) as our Sales Account Manager. He loves getting out and about meeting new clients and taking on the challenge of consistently breaking yearly sales records. He still, proudly, has clients that have been using adzup’s captive media for over a decade. When Rhys isn’t at work, you’ll find him either catching waves at his local surf beach – or pumping iron at the gym thinking about his next sale while listening to “Eye of The Tiger” on repeat.

Famous For:
Being here 16 years and still forgetting to bring in the paper recycling bin

Renee Moorfield

Renee joined the adzup team in 2017 as our Sales and Administration Coordinator. Renee knows every client, every campaign and every site – we know ’cause we just mercilessly quizzed her on them in order to write this bio. Having obtained her Bachelor of Business degree in Advertising and Design, Renee loves working with clients on their artwork and seeing campaigns go from initial concept to all-out installation. When she’s not at work you can find Renee down at her local Scout group where she volunteers as a Kea Leader. So adjust your woggle, hold up your three-fingered salute and say it with Renee: On my honour, I promise to do my best.

Nigel Shanks

The man who started it all a long, long time ago. Those first few years saw in-cinema product sampling and popcorn bag advertising abound, long before the current adzup media products were even a twinkle in Nigel’s eye. As for ‘digital’? Who needed that when you had the latest Nokia flip phone as contra? Those were the good old days of long Friday lunches at Prego and overseas media conferences. Nowadays Nigel can be found at his Kaipara farm, kept busy trapping possums and tending to lazy chickens, Lowline cattle and Wiltshire sheep with his partner and their three boisterous wheaten terriers. In his spare time Nigel researches Northland and Bermuda postal histories. Nigel is always only an email, call or country bus ride away if advice or assistance is required. Give him a buzz.

Famous For:
Ensuring the office temperature remains a static 21.5 deg.
